Powys Action on the Climate Emergency (PACE) Hosted by PACE and Egin

Event Description

The idea that our verges can be significant 'nature reserves' is one of those 'flipping' moments. They are not usually walked on - or disturbed at all, and are often not even noticed. Some are cut to be neat and to ensure visibility, but what if they are looked after for the benefit of nature? Picture verges full of wild seasonal flowers, bees and hoverflies, maybe small mammals too. That would create a wonderful welcome!

On Saturday, we have speakers from three communities in Powys who have taken action to 'wild' their verges. They will talk about what they do, how they started, and how it is viewed in their communities. There is also a special speaker from Radnorshire Wildlife Trust who will specifically talk about verges as 'nature reserves'. As always, there will be information on how to do this in your community, and create your own mini nature reserves!
