Event Description
Exciting news - Vibrant Vyrnwy is evolving!
The Vibrant Vyrnwy project - a collaboration between RSPB, Hafren Dyfrdwy and Llanwddyn Community Council have been successful in securing funding from The Moondance Foundation enabling us to continue our work for at least another year and support our community driven tree nursery placing people at the heart of nature’s recovery.
The funding will enable us to continue our community work and empower volunteers from all backgrounds to contribute meaningfully to nature’s recovery, develop new skills and take pride in Vyrnwy’s landscape restoration. Structured session will offer training in conservation and sustainable farming practices to enhance employability, particularly for young people wanting to step onto the green sector. Within the community space we will grow and plant local native trees enhancing habitats for species like Hen Harrier and Pied Flycatchers while connect people to place and support our ambitious treescape plan.
Removing barriers to participation is central to the project so some of the fund will be spent on leasing an electric minibus to ensure no one is left behind.
The Vibrant Vyrnwy Coed Hiraeth will launch on Thursday 24th July with an Open Day at Lake Vyrnwy’s Tree Nursery. Staff and volunteers will be happy to chat with anyone keen to get involved, have a go at an activity, or just learn more about the work that has been achieved so far and hopes for the future. Community input and support is vital for the project so any time you can spare to come and talk to us is much appreciated.
Please join us anytime between 10-1pm at the tree nursery. There will be refreshments, activities to get stuck into for all ages, and the all-important cake!
The Tree Nursery is located at the top end of the lake, taking the right-hand turn towards Bala just before the Rhiwargor Waterfall car park.
