Event Description
Mentorship Opportunity Begins!
Supported by the CLA Charitable Trust, the new Green Shoots Pathway will offer development and specialization opportunities in regenerative farming for young adults wishing to take their next steps in agroecology.
There will be 6 full day sessions over 6 months. The sessions will take place on the last Thursday of every month:
January 29th
February 26th
March 26th
April 30th
May 28th
June 25th
Free minibus transport is provided as part of the project from Talgarth, Builth Wells, Llandrindod Wells and Rhayader to both sites at which the sessions will take place.
The sessions will cover a range of regenerative farming approaches, including:
Soil Health: Native Micro-organism Foraging, Fermentation and Biodigester Techniques
Heritage and Heirloom Varieties: A Biannual Approach to Growing from your own Seed
Animals and Holistic Systems: Producing Organic Dairy in a Cycle of Mutual Care
Plant Communities: Interconnected Growing in Agroforestry and Companion Planting
The foci for the two final Pathway sessions will be determined through dialogue as the group develops, with the aim of exploring and enabling shared growing interests.
The Green Shoots Development Pathway will be led by practicing regenerative producers and feature additional visiting/online lecturers. Hands-on experiential learning during each of the days will be complimented with the creation of a reflective journal in a format of your choice. At the culmination of the project, we’ll ask for contributions from these journals to help us shape future programs at Blackthorne that we hope you’ll take part in building too.
There are no fees for the pathway but mentees are encouraged to take part in volunteering with The Blackthorne Trust as part of the experience.
