Event Description
Join Tony Coatsworth for an illustrated talk about the extraordinary wildlife of Brazil’s Pantanal wetlands and the spectacular Foz do Iguaçu region.
Tony, a keen amateur birder, moved to Berriew in 2022 after retiring from a 40-year career in IT and cyber-security. In 2023, he and his partner Gina travelled to Brazil and Argentina, fulfilling a long-held ambition to visit the Pantanal. Their journey included a comprehensive North and South Pantanal tour with Brazil Nature Tours, as well as an independently planned excursion to the iconic Iguazu Falls.
In this talk, Tony will share photographs and stories from their trip, showcasing many of the birds and animals they encountered — including the highlight of seeing a Jaguar in the wild.
Since returning, Tony volunteers with the BTO (British Trust for Ornithology), helping to organise local Wetland Bird Surveys as well as contributing to other surveys and bird-ringing activities.
