Event Description
Performing in English and Lingala, she explores themes of identity, heritage and belonging through intimate, story-led songwriting.
Not to be missed!Â
We’re thrilled to welcome back Liz Ikamba, who captivated us with her incredible performance last year. We’ve got some exciting updates coming your way—stay tuned!
Liz Ikamba brings her distinctive blend of Congo alt-pop and Afro-soul with her dynamic 4-piece band. Having spent several months living and working in Powys, this performance marks a special connection to the area.
Her sound fuses traditional Central African influences with global styles including jazz, dub-reggae and neo-soul, driven by polyrhythms, deep basslines and powerful, expressive vocals. Described as Erykah Badu, Sade and Nina Simone with a Congolese twist, Liz seamlessly blends musical styles with a contemporary diasporic perspective, and the rhythmic, melodic traditions of Central Africa. Her work explores themes of storytelling, identity, heritage and belonging, with a warm tone, global awareness and lyrical depth.
Performing in English and Lingala, she explores themes of identity, heritage and belonging through intimate, story-led songwriting. With her full band, her live show becomes an immersive experience rich in groove, atmosphere and connection.
Known for engaging and participatory performances, Liz invites audiences into a shared space of rhythm and movement, making each show feel both personal and collective.Â
