Andy's Bread
Andy’s Bread was born in June 2010 in our small home kitchen. After reading Andrew Whitley’s seminal book, Bread Matters and an inspirational trip to Birmingham to bake with Tom Baker of LOAF, I set up my first (very) micro-bakery, selling a few loaves a week in the local organic fruit & veg shop.
As well as buying organic ingredients we source locally produced ingredients. I am lucky to have a working watermill some 40 miles away in Llanrhystud, Ceredigion. Anne and Andrew mill British grains and I use their rye and wholemeal wheat flours in my bread. If you are ever driving South down the Welsh west coast from Aberystwyth, you should stop in Llanrhystud and say hello to them at Felin Ganol watermill.
We currently bake 4 days a week; Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Sourdough breads are long fermented and available throughout the week. We also produce a 100% rye sourdough sourdough.
See Andy's Bread website for more information
Hungry? Penpont Farm
Near Brecon & hungry for fresh veg? Penpont farm shop will be opening its doors year-round. Stocked with honest, seasonal & tasty organic produce much of which is grown within the walled garden. Our orchard provides apple juice, and there is a freezer full of our longhorn beef and other local meat and eggs, alongside Penpont honey, jams & chutneys.
