Event Description

The conference schedule is as follows:

9am-9.30am: Registration.

9.30am: Main Plenary Session including:

  • Welcome & Introduction
  • Key note speakers with Q & A including:
  • Dr Sam Hampton, University of Bath, climate behaviour expert on the power of individuals to influence the political agenda and make lifestyle choices that drive down emissions when action is taken collectively
  • Young Peoples' perspectives on climate action for Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin


Morning Thematic Panel Discussions (30 minutes per panel plus mid morning refreshment break):

Understanding the challenges and solutions to climate action across sectors in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin on the topics of :

1: Land, Nature, Food and Farming

2: Transport

3: Energy and Housing

4: Circular Economy: Repair-Reuse-Plastic Free


Climate Fresk workshop will also be held as a separate session alongside the morning Panel Discussions. In just 3 hours, this fun, collaborative workshop will teach you the fundamental science behind climate change and empower you to take action.

[Places for this will be on a first come, first served basis. You can sign up for a place at the welcome desk on arrival at the conference.]


Lunch provided (vegetarian and vegan options)


Afternoon Workshops on how to engage the public to take climate action & how to improve collaboration across organisations


You will need to select the workshop you want to attend when you book your ticket

Workshop 1: Communication tools for engaging the public (e.g. dealing with press, media, social media)

Workshop 2: Increasing awareness, engagement, and behaviour change through understanding and learning (e.g. carbon literacy, climate fresk, carbon footprint tools)

Workshop 3: Increasing awareness, engagement, and behaviour change through peer-to-peer social interaction/networking (e.g. climate cafes, citizen science, climate conversations)

Workshop 4: How to improve collaboration across organisations in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin

Workshops 5: How to accelerate change on Land, Nature, Food and Farming

Workshops 6: How to accelerate change on Transport

Workshops 7: How to accelerate change on Energy and Housing

Workshops 8: How to accelerate change Circular Economy: Repair-Reuse-Plastic Free etc

Workshop 9: Creative messaging workshop [practical sessions to make a banner for the climate coalition]
