Oswestry Borders Repair Cafe
Oswestry and Borders Repair Cafe was formed in 2019 as a joint venture with BRACE ( based in Llanfyllin) and Oswestry XR. We run one event each month 12-3pm alternating between Public Institute in Llanfyllin ( SY22 5AA) and the Senior Citizens Club in Lorne Street, Oswestry SY11 1ND.
We have a team of volunteers - Fixperts who carry out the repairs, Cafe Helpers making sure everyone is fed and watered! and General Organisers who do everything else! The ethos is one of skill sharing as well as keeping things from landfill so clients sit with the Fixpert as they repair the item.
We also have a small cafe with drinks & homemade cakes - a great place to catch up with others from your community.
Typical things we fix include
- small electrical items such as toasters, hairdryers, lamps, televisions, radios, strimmers
- bikes ( simple repairs not full servicing!)
- mechanical items such as clocks, chairs
- fabric - sewing and knitting repairs, usually clothes but also rucksacks and even the Llanfyllin Christmas Market banner!
Our next events will be posted on the Events section of this website, on our FB page and can be found on posters around the area and local newspapers.
